- Bread:
- All Purpose Flour Plain Flour 250g 2 cups
- Garlic Garlic 2 cloves 2 cloves
- Table Salt Table Salt 1/4 tsp 1/4 tsp
- Water Water 120ml 1/2 cup
- Yeast Yeast 5g 1 tsp
- Olive Oil Olive Oil 2 tsp 2 tsp
- Granulated Sugar Granulated Sugar 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp
- Topping:
- Sesame Seeds Sesame Seeds 1 tbsp 1 tbsp
- Garlic Garlic 2 cloves 2 cloves
- Olive Oil Olive Oil 1 tbsp 1 tbsp
- Fresh Cilantro Fresh Coriander handful handful
Instructions
- 1.Combine lukewarm water, sugar, yeast and olive oil, let it sit for 10-15 minutes until it turns foamy.
- 2.Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl and add crushed garlic.
- 3.Pour in the yeast blend and slowly mix it with the flour. Add a bit more flour if the dough feels too moist, however it should not be too dry.
- 4. Knead well for 8-10 minutes, form the dough into a smooth ball shape, cover it with cling film or a kitchen towel.
- 5.Keep it in a warm place and let it rise until it has reached about double its size (1-2 hours).
- 6. Sprinkle some flour onto a flat work surface, take the dough and knead it for about 1-2 minutes, then divide it into 4 equal-sized parts.
- 7.Roll each dough ball into a 2-4mm thick oval shape.
- 8.Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top and roll them lightly into the dough.
- 9.Now mix the topping from crushed garlic and olive oil, set aside.
- 10.Place one piece of naan dough into a large, non-stick frying pan in high heat, brush the garlic oil onto its surface and heat for 1-2 minutes until you see bubbles popping all over the naan’s surface and a nice brown colour developing.
- 11.Flip over, brush the other side with the garlic oil and heat for another 1-2 minutes.
- 12.Remove the naan from the pan, cool for 5-10 minutes and decorate it with the chopped coriander leaves (cilantro) to serve.
